PSUs come in different shapes and sizes, and some are compatible across different series depending on the features of your switch.
There can be times when the temptation is to use the highest power unit and hope for the best but often you can save energy and money by using lower wattages whilst still being able to utilise all the features of your switch.

Finding the Right Power Supply for You
Series like the C3850 and C9300 both use the same power supplies which can help with costs and network integration, but it means they have similar rules across both series which remain familiar to users.
The power supplies for this series come in 350W, 715W and 1100W power ratings. Using the correct supply can save you money through efficiency.
Taking the non-poe C9300-48T model as an example, all the features of this switch will work with a 715W PSU but only require a 350W PSU to operate. The 715W PSUs are better suited to the C9300-48P models which can be used to give power to devices through PoE connections.
