The 6840-X models come equipped with a minimum of 16 fixed 10G ports, with some models supporting up to 40 fixed 10G ports through SFP & SFP+ within a 2RU chassis size. The C6840-X-LE-40G & C6824-X-LE-40G also boast 2x 40G native uplink ports within the same compact chassis size.

For networks which require a greater degree of scalability the Cisco Catalyst 6807-XL Modular Switch delivers with 5 Module and 2 Supervisor Engine slots with over 20 compatible modules, whilst the Cisco Catalyst 6880-X Series Modular Switch can be upgraded from 16x 1/10G integrated ports to up to 80 ports using the C6880-X-LE-16P10G Multi Rate Port Card.
