Today is a very special day for us at ETB Technologies – it marks the 20th anniversary of the company's founding. Our journey to becoming one of Europe’s leading suppliers of refurbished enterprise IT equipment – be that servers, storage or network equipment – has not been without its challenges. But, as we reflect on the huge strides we’ve made over the past two decades, we feel immense pride and want to thank everyone one of our colleagues – past and present – who have helped us reach this momentous milestone.
From a standing start in 2001, we’ve steadily grown our team to the point where we hired our 60th employee this year. As we continue to expand into new territories and countries across Europe and deepen our supplier and customer relationships, we look back at our journey and how we have reached this incredible milestone.
Today (2021), we sell equipment to more than 700 customers each month, spread across more than 75 countries and nearly every timezone in the world. Our international footprint represents half of our revenue, with roughly 40% of sales heading to countries across the EU, and 10% to the US. It would be remiss of us not to mention the current pandemic, which has bought about challenges for us as we, like every business, have been forced to adapt our processes to prioritise staff safety.
However, the rise in remote working has increased demand for servers and networking equipment, and we have supported many businesses making the seamless transition to this new way of working. In addition, as Scotland prepares to host leaders from across the globe at COP26 next month, many businesses are waking up to the pressing need to hit net zero targets ahead of Scotland’s deadline in 2045.
The resulting push towards greener, less carbon-intensive technologies has seen many turn to the refurbished market to help remove carbon from their supply chain. As we look ahead, our team of talented engineers and customer support staff are committed to helping businesses across the globe have access to quality refurbished enterprise IT equipment.
We’ll continue to support our staff to help them grow and develop with us and we’re proud to be one of Dalbeattie’s top employers, as well as contributing to closing Scotland’s current IT skills gap by training up staff and helping them enter this innovative and dynamic sector. Here’s to the next two decades!
